Dr. Andrew Jun

Dr. Jun is a graduate of the Family Medicine program at the University of Calgary.  He possesses a diverse academic background, including an Honors BSc in Psychology and Toxicology from the University of Toronto and a Master's degree in Clinical Anatomy from Western University.  After these degrees, Dr. Jun chose to venture west and study medicine at the University of Calgary.  Upon graduation, he completed three years of residency in Anesthesia at the University of Saskatchewan before pursuing his true calling in Family Medicine.  He feels honoured that he now gets to work in a specialty where he gets to know his patients and be a strong advocate for comprehensive and preventive care.

 

Among his clinical interests are mental health and psychotherapy, office-based procedures (joint injections, minor surgical procedures), and point-of-care ultrasound.  As a father of two young kids, he is also passionate about children's health.  A fact underlined by the Most Valuable Resident award during his pediatrics rotation in 2019, the first time a Family Medicine resident received this distinction at the University of Calgary.

 

In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Jun is an enthusiastic educator.  He has delivered hundreds of hours of lab and didactic instruction in anatomy to students and residents in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, and dentistry.  Dr. Jun has received nominations and awards for his teaching and has presented his teaching ideas internationally.  More recently, he has focused on training Family Medicine residents.  During residency, Dr. Jun received certification to facilitate case-based group learning. He also facilitated procedural skills sessions for junior residents, a distinction typically reserved for practicing physicians. Dr. Jun is also a designated Clinical Lecturer at the Cummings School of Medicine through the University of Calgary.

 

Dr. Jun is thrilled to join the APC team and work with outstanding colleagues who share the same vision for exceptional primary care.

 

Away from the clinic, Dr. Jun loves spending as much time as possible with his wife and two young children.  He looks forward to taking his family to Korea, Disneyland, and Hawaii in the coming years.
