Born and raised in Alberta, Krista grew up in rural central Alberta prior to moving to Calgary to pursue her nursing education and career.
Krista began her post-secondary education at SAIT, earning a Medical Transcription certificate in 1997 before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Studies at the University of Calgary (2003) and her Bachelor of Nursing through Mount Royal University/Athabasca University (2005).
After graduating, Krista spent 3 years in urgent care, critical care and emergency care at South Calgary Health Centre (Urgent Care) and Peter Lougheed Centre as a Registered Nurse.
Krista stepped away from her career in Nursing to raise her 3 children for 11 years and completed a Nursing Refresher Program through Grant MacEwan University from 2015-2018.
Looking to restart her career, she decided to pursue experience in Primary Care. Krista is very passionate about team-based primary care models and was excited to join Advanced Primary Care in June, 2019.
In her time away from the clinic, her rural roots still show through, with her deep love for horses and she is a devoted member of Alberta's equestrian community. Krista is also very proud of her 2 Vizsla dogs (Coco and Piper).
