Kinesiologist
Helena was born in Calgary and grew up travelling between New Zealand and Calgary. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and an embedded certificate in mental resilience and wellbeing, in June 2023. While in university, she most enjoyed the hands-on labs and the opportunity to have access to new information and studies. She is currently working towards getting her CSEP-CEP certification.
After graduating university, she began working part time as a personal trainer which allowed her to create customized exercise plans to help clients meet their health or fitness goals.

Through her education, job experience, and personal experience, she is very aware of the many benefits of physical activity such as a tool to decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke, improve mental and physical functioning, prevent functional decline, and manage symptoms relating to health conditions and medications.

Helena is passionate about physical activity and exercise as medicine, and creating a sustainable active lifestyle. She believes that exercise should be meaningful and enjoyable, as opposed to a chore or a punishment. She hopes to share her knowledge about how to create, integrate, and maintain an active lifestyle.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, biking, cross country skiing, bouldering (wall climbing), travelling, and spending time with her cat.
