Tyler comes from a background in human services having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology, minoring in Religious Studies at Mount Royal University, and receiving a Master of Counselling at City University of Seattle. He worked for seven and a half years as a Child and Youth Care Counsellor at Hull Services to help transition young people from life in Children Services placements and programs into adulthood.

Tyler completed his internship with Insight Counselling and Therapy Centre, which offers counselling services on a sliding scale to the Calgary population. During this time, he participated in the agency's partnership with Rise Calgary, which provides community resources to lower socio-economic status communities, providing counselling services to a very broad demographic of Calgarians of various age groups, incomes and cultures. He has remained involved with Insight on their board of directors. He also currently contracts at a private group practice, Center Street Psychology, and works with many types of patients here.

Currently, Tyler maintains a practice collaborating with patients across the lifespan including individual counselling and couples, managing mood (anxiety and depression), health psychology, habit management and existential topics. He utilizes a range of therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, accelerated resolution therapy, transactional analysis, family systems, and the Gottman method for couples counselling. He can offer services at APC on an ongoing basis, or on a supplementary basis in coordination with the rest of the team at APC.

Tyler keeps a busy lifestyle being involved in several hobbies such as snowboarding, hiking, playing and enjoying music, and spending time with his wife Olivia.
